EDWARDS — Percy James Myles Jr. died Sunday April 26, 2015, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. He was 78.
Mr. Miles was born Sept. 23, 1936, to the late Percy James Myles, Sr. and Mary Myles in Edwards, Hinds County. He was a member of Cherry Grove Church MB Church, where he served as a deacon and church treasurer.
He moved to Los Angeles in 1956, and returned to Edwards, where he married Earnestine Irving. He and his family returned to California and then moved to Indianapolis, where he worked at Wonder Bread Bakery before returning to Edwards in 1975. In 1982, he married Pearl Montgomery.
He retired from Hinds County Public Works after 17 years as a truck driver.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven daughters, Janet Myles Love, Linda Myles and Shelia Myles Clanton, all of Indianapolis, Lillian Myles Vaughn of Las Vegas, Jane Myles Pruitt of Chicago, and Renita Myles Lee and Julie Myles, both of Edwards; one son, Tyrone Walker of Edwards; six siblings, Rosie Mae Hine of Jackson, Irene Caston, Cleotha Myles Bradley and Cora Myles, all of Edwards, and Rosie Myles Turner and Mary Myles, both of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Cherry Grove MB Church in Edwards under the direction of Willis and Sons Funeral Home of Jackson.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
