Barbara Ellen Salmon Cesare died June 2, 2015, at her home. She was 88.
Born in Vicksburg Feb. 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Schaffer Salmon and the late James Middleton Salmon.
She was a 1945 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. After graduation, she accepted employment at First National Bank of Vicksburg, and then was a longtime employee of the U.S. Corp of Engineers, where she retired in 1987.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Ladies Altar Society.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, John Guy Cesare Sr.; her adoring children, Mary Cesare White of Clarksdale, Dr. Charles David Cesare Sr. (Carie) of Clarksdale, Carol Cesare Walker (Robert) of Madison, and a daughter-in-law, Sue Dexter Cesare of Baltimore, Md. She was the proud and affectionate grandmother of her 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving her are her sisters, Anne Mahoney, Margaret Bucci and Bettie Rooks, and a brother, Billy Riddle.
She is predeceased by a daughter, Anne Elizabeth Cesare; a son, John Guy Cesare Jr.; and her siblings, Buddy Salmon, Pat Middleton, Mike Riddle, Rita Faye Evans, Albert Riddle, and Donnie Riddle.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her loving caregivers, Beth Neff and Donna Anderson, and to St. Joseph Hospice.
Services will be Thursday, June 4, 2015, at St. Paul Catholic Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens.
