Billie ‘Backhoe’ Thompson

Billie “Backhoe” Thompson died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Thompson was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Madison County. He was the youngest of 10 siblings born to James and Rosa Thompson.

He moved to Vicksburg during the late 1950s, and joined the staff at Riverside Construction, where he worked for 55 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Olive Mae Waverly; and nine siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Romonia Thompson of Vicksburg; stepson, Lorenzo Bryant; stepdaughter, Tarshia Bryant of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Isaiah Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pilgrim MB Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 6 p.m. with family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
