Dorothy M. “Dot” Roberts

Dorothy M. “Dot” Roberts went to be with her Lord and Savior June 15, 2015, at Merit River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Dot was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Etowah, Ark., the daughter of the late James Leland Russell and Ada Elzie Ferguson Russell.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dot was an avid canasta player. She was a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary J. Long (Grady), Gwendelyn R. Gates (Morgan) and Michelle Skinner (Shawn); two sons, Charles L. Roberts (Rita) and P. K. Roberts (Brenda); 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Zettie Jewell “Tootsie” Vail, Betty Lois Davis and Flora Lea Williams; and her beloved pets, Sissy and Missy.

In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband, Perry C. Roberts; four sisters, Evelyn Lucille Russell, Sarah Verlin Russell, Ruby Jean Denton and Violet Glendora Brindos; and two brothers, William Floyd Lee Russell and Alvin Curtis Russell.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Riles Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles Holden, pastor of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Thursday until the hour of the service. Memorials may be sent to Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, in care of Randy McCollum, 501 Goodrum Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Pallbearers will be Gordon Cotton, Randy McCollum, Steve Coleman, Joe Rushing, Thomas Rushing, Norman Williams, Asa Wren and Russ Roberts,

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Jackson, Bill Denton, DeWayne Nevels, Bill Roberts, Andy Roberts and Danny Roberts.
