Funeral services for William Bryant “Bill” Williams of Tallulah will be at 11 a.m Monday, June 22, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11a .m. in the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Gueydan Cemetery, Gueydan, La.

Bill passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, June 19, 2015, at his home where he was surrounded by his devoted family. Always determined to embrace life to the fullest, he found his greatest joy in being a most loving husband and exceptional father and grandfather. Bill was an avid golfer, enthusiastic pilot, amateur drummer, and all around athlete involved in running, swimming, hiking, and volunteer coaching.

Born Sept. 28, 1951, in Greenwood, he moved with his family to Tallulah in 1961. Bill was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. During his college years, he worked as a summer student employee at Grand Lake Lodge in Grand Lake, Colo. There he developed a passion for mountain hiking and climbing, and more importantly, met Pamela Linscombe of Gueydan, La., who became his wife of 42 very happy years.

After graduation, Bill worked at North Delta Planning and Development in Monroe and then settled in Tallulah where for 11 years he was engaged in farming his family’s Deertrack Plantation which he continued to supervise.

He was employed by Bunge Corporation for 28 years as Operations Manager in Louisiana and Mississippi. Bill was a life-long member of Trinity Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was Junior Warden and youth group leader for many years. He was a past member of the Tallulah Academy Board of Directors, the Tallulah Country Club and the Farm Bureau boards.

Bill is survived by his wife Pamela Linscombe Williams; daughter, Sarah Williams Whitman and son-in-law Trey; son, Jonathan Ford Williams and daughter-in-law Jamie; mother, Geneva Rountree Williams; brother, Lee Williams; sister, Susan Schlueter and husband Art; grandchildren: Katherine Ruby Whitman, Lane Carpenter Whitman, and Luke Murphy Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward Webb Williams and his brother Lane Baird Williams. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his many friends, near and far, old and new. He will be remembered by all for the courage with which he faced his illness. Pall bearers are Matt Adams, Tommy Bishop, Finley Cartwright, Dale Magoun, Kirk Morley, Leonard “Pop” Neumann, Jim Sevier, and Jim Tucker. Honorary pall bearers are Billy Abrahm, Calvin Adams, Freddy Gaumnitz, Jason Herr, Bill Paxton, Charles Roberson, and Walter Scott. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Doctors Ruth Frederick, “Pop” Neumann; R.N.’s Paige Grady, Sarah Vining, Nina Yerger; and Vonda Mitchell for their compassionate care. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church or the American Brain Tumor Association.
