Miss Mississippi 2015 crowned at Vicksburg Convention Center

Miss University of Southern Mississippi Hannah Roberts was crowned the 2015 queen Saturday night at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

The top ten were chosen on a point system based on interviews with the judges, talent, swimwear, evening wear and on-stage questions.

Due to a tie there were actually 11 contestants in the top 10. They were Miss Tombigbee Alivia Paden Roberts, Miss Natchez Trace Carol Coker, Miss Riverland Laura Lee Lewis, Miss Historic South Hannah Whitlock, Miss Pearl River Valley Morgan Burnett, Miss Delta Blues Meredith Thomas, Miss University France Beard, Miss Leaf River Valley Michaela Moore, Miss Belle of the Bayou Molly May, Miss Hattiesburg Ivey Swan and Miss University of Southern Mississippi Hannah Roberts.

After the 10 were named, they competed in each category – except judge’s interview.

Miss University France Beard, Miss Riverland Laura Lee Lewis, Miss University of Southern Mississippi Hannah Roberts, Miss Delta Blues Meredith Thomas and Miss Hattiesburg Ivey Swan were named the top five and competed in the onstage question portion.

Miss Riverland Laura Lee Lewis was the second runner up and Miss University France Beard was first runner up.

Four Miss Misissippi winners have won the Miss America title – Mary Ann Mobley of Brandon in 1959, Lynda Lee Mead of Natchez in 1960, Cheryl Prewitt of Ackerman in 1980 and Susan Akin of Meridian in 1986.
