A 2013 Warren Central High School graduate, honor roll student and senior homecoming maid along with a Starkville man were detained by federal authorities at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport over the weekend.

During an initial court hearing Monday in Oxford, authorities identified the two as Jaelyn Delshaun Young of Vicksburg and Mohammed Dakhlalla of Starkville.

The two reportedly had been planning for nearly a year to leave the U. S. for the Middle East. They planned to travel to Turkey, get married and then cross into Syria.

Young attended Mississippi State and wanted to become a doctor. During the hearing, authorities say she apparently offered to serve ISIS as a medic.

The hearing is expected to continue Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Golden Triangle Airport Executive Director Mike Hainsey confirmed the incident took place around 6:30 Saturday morning. He says it is the first time in his career at the airport someone was detained by the FBI.
