Porter’ Chapel Academy educates children in numerous ways.

Emphasis is placed on faith, academics, student responsibility, and extra-curricular activities to insure a well-rounded education.

The mission statement says, “Porter’s Chapel strives to train young people through a well-rounded Christian education, thereby preparing them for life as leaders who will choose character before career, wisdom beyond scholarship, service before self and participation as a way of life.”

Our Christian environment allows us to have chapel each Thursday morning.

Members of the faculty, community leaders, and ministers come to study God’s word with us.

We emphasize respect for each other, service for others, and a focus on what God wants us to do with our lives.

Devotionals and prayer are held daily.

We are extremely proud of our faculty and staff.

Fifty-six percent of the faculty has master degrees.

They are dedicated to providing the best possible education for our students.

Our curriculum is a traditional one, and we emphasize that our students receive a variety of grades: class work, homework, quizzes, unit tests and projects.

Some of our classes will also have assignments on line as they prepare for college.

Some rigorous course offerings include the following: Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Biology 11, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Honors English I and II, Spanish I and II, Chemistry I and II and Physics.

Creative thinking is encouraged with a special emphasis on writing.

Other courses on line can be offered through the Mississippi Independent School Association if there is an interest.

Our school gives the PSAT to sophomores and juniors.

Our average student to teacher ratio is twelve to one, which allows more time for one on one instruction or small group instruction.

Our elementary school has a rigorous curriculum as well.

The lower elementary (k-4, k-5, and first grade) teachers do an excellent job.

They use a variety of programs that emphasize phonics as well as sight words.

A variety of programs are used to prepare our young students for second grade·and beyond.

Cursive writing is taught in upper elementary.

Our upper elementary teachers (2nd through 6th) work diligently to prepare our students for each subsequent grade.

We strive to teach our students to be more responsible.

One hundred percent of the senior class has signed up for the Weekday ACT that will be given in September at our school.

We have included some senior privileges to teach them how to be responsible young adults.

Several former graduates who are finished with college are now in medical school or working on their internships.

Because we are a smaller school, we have a family atmosphere with a greater opportunity to participate in athletics and other extracurricular activities like band and choir.

Our school play always includes many of our students.

We are able to offer pee-wee sports to students in grades 3-6 as well as pee-wee cheerleading.

Our purpose is to teach character, academics, responsibility and versatility to the student body.

With prayer and hard work, we know we will succeed.
