The weather outside is still reaching upwards of 90 degrees, but the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is already gearing up for Christmas. The 8th Annual Holly Days Arts and Crafts Show is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, and vendor applications are now being accepted.

Each year, more than 25 artisans will offer their goods at the SCHC Auditorium, 1302 Adams St.,which will include candles, pottery, jewelry, t-shirts, holiday decorations and paintings from local and regional artist.

“Vendor space is limited and acceptance to the show will be based on the images of the crafts and art submitted with an application,” executive director of the SCH Foundation Stacey Massey said adding craft and art demonstrations are a plus.

Exhibit space is $40 for SCHF members and $50 for nonmembers and space is limited.

“Vendors will be notified by Sept. 25 with an acceptance letter, and although specific space requests will be considered, spaces will be assigned by the review committee, Massey said.

The Holly Days Arts and Crafts Show is not a big fundraiser for the SCHF, Massey said since the cost of admission is only $1.

“We are really just trying to help promote arts and culture in Vicksburg,” she said.

However the SCHF board members have a vendor booth, where they sell hot chocolate, apple cider and sweets, Massey said.

In addition to vendors showcasing their products, lunch will be provided for sale and local talent will perform throughout the day.

The Holly Days Arts and Crafts show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This is a great way for people to get out and see arts and crafts when it is cold outside,” Massey said.
