VHS to host college softball game

Vicksburg High will host a college softball game between Jackson State and East Mississippi Community College at its “Softball Swamp” field on Oct. 24. The game will be played as a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., and admission is $2 at the gate.

Fall tennis program

The City of Vicksburg’s youth fall tennis program is under way at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6 p.m., and is free.

Co-ed adult softball registration

for the City of Vicksburg’s co-ed adult softball league will continue through Sept. 11. The cost is $175 per team, plus an additional $10 per player for residents of Claiborne County and $20 per player for residents of Sharkey and Issaquena counties. Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall youth baseball league will continue through Sept. 11. The registration fee is $25 per player. There are five age divisions for players ages 5-15, and coaches are needed for all participating teams.

Registration forms are available at Just Duett Sports, the Sports Center, and the Parks and Recreation Department office at 100 Army-Navy Drive.

Over the River Run

Registration is now open for the 27th Annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.

The Over the River Run is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. A 1-mile children’s fun run will follow the 5-mile run and walk.

The entry fee is $25 for individuals before Oct. 1, or $30 after that date, and $15 for children 10-and-under. There’s also a $55 rate for families of as many as five people, and a $75 corporate rate.

Copper Mill Golf Classic

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the Copper Mill Junior Classic Sept. 26 and 27 at Copper Mill Golf Club in Zachary, La. The registration fee for the two-day, 36-hole tournament is $185 and includes green fees, gifts and trophies in four age divisions. The deadline to register is Sept. 24.
