Vernon N. Champion

BILOXI — Vernon N. Champion, 83, of North Biloxi, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015.

Mr. Champion was a native of Isola and a resident of the Coast since 1967. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and retired from Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center as an angio supervisor. Mr. Champion was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene in Biloxi and an avid hunter. He was a Godly husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his parents, O. H. “Jack” and Leona Champion.

Mr. Champion’s survivors include his wife of 59 years, Annette Champion; his daughter, Karen (Mark) Howie; his son, Daryl (Hilda) Champion; his sisters, Elza (Billy) Fought, Angie (Jimmy) Perry, Marie (Bill) Sullivan, Lois (Harold) Williamson and Jeanette (Stan) Spikes; his brother, Rusty (Maryann) Champion; and his grandchildren, Lauren Howie, Jessica Champion, Jonathan Howie and Josh Frazier.

Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Gulf Coast Family Church of the Nazarene, 14700 Big Ridge Rd., Biloxi, MS 39532.

Funeral Services will be at the Gulf Coast Family Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at noon. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.

The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
