Dorothy Virginia Thorne, 94, of Vicksburg, passed away Sept. 18, 2015, at her home.

She was born in Jackson, and lived in Vicksburg for over 70 years. She was a retired beautician and a member of Goodrum Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.H “Buddy” Thorne; son, Butch Thorne; son-in-law, Bob Williams; and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one son, Randy (Lisa) Thorne of Vicksburg; one daughter, Gail Williams of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Kasey (Daniel) Slayton, J.R. (Jami) Williams, Zach Thorne and Trey (Jen) Thorne; and six great-grandchildren.

Service was 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Carter officiating. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jamie Parker, Jeff Pickell, Richie Mc Comas, Bobby Mc Comas and Brent Greer. Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Hutton, Ted Giordano, Paul Pierce III, Camellia Hospice and the Rev. Van and Shirley Carter.
