Inest “Inez” Mae Durden

Inest “Inez” Mae Durden, 101, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at her home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery.

Mrs. Durden was employed with Jitney Jungle and JC Penny in Jackson for over 31 years.  She was a former member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Jackson, First Baptist Church of Florence and Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton.

She was a longtime Sunday school teacher and very involved in different church activities. A devoted, faithful Christian lady, she loved the Lord with all that was inside her. A friend to all, she opened her home and hosted many that were in need.

Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson William Durden; daughters, Billie Sills Saik and Chris Haithcock of Florence; and siblings, Hubert Farmer, Frankie Bennett and Ann Easton.

She is survived by her honorary daughter, Paula Ellis of Bovina; brother, Bill Bell of Terry; seven grandchildren, Vicki Sills Collums, Jeff Sills, Dan Seals, Angela Brown, Annette Rankin, Alison Young and Tim Nisley; and many great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton.
