Emma Marie “Skipper” Mallett

Emma Marie “Skipper” Mallett died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at her home. She was 61.
Mrs. Mallett, the eighth of nine children, was born Jan. 14, 1954, to the late Ambus and Emma Wallace. She joined Clover Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher of the church.
She attended school in Warren County and was a high school graduate of Warren Central High School and received a B.S. at Tougaloo College in Jackson. She was employed for over 27 years with Hinds County Human Resource Agency. After approximately 15 years, she was promoted to center administrator.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Watts; and one sister, Doris Simpson.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Odell Mallett Jr. of Edwards; one son, Shedrick Wallace Sr. of Vicksburg; three daughters, Ponzella Chiplin of Vicksburg, and Angielina Mallett and Eugenia Mallett, both of Edwards; one brother, J.W. Knox of Vicksburg; five sisters, Loretta Poates, Rodia Watts-Sisney and Vivian McNeil, all of Vicksburg, and Gloria Wallace and Jo Ann Wallace, both of Edwards; father-in-law; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great niece; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Clover Valley Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Valley MB Church Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
