Carolyn Chappell Mason died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016.  She was 81.

Born in Mississippi, she was daughter of the late Simpson Carter Chappell Sr. and Bertha Sue White Chappell.

Mrs. Chappell was an elementary school librarian for the Vicksburg School System for a number of years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorena Kathleen Yankovitz; and one son, Thomas Francis Mason; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Sue Cappaert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mason; and brothers, John Michael Chappell and Simpson Chappell Jr.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
