Funeral services for Larry Van Allen Sr. will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Jackson Street M. B. Church with the Rev. Trollis Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 73.

He was retired from International Paper Company, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and a member  of the Jackson Street M. B. Church. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the International Paper Company and American Legion Post 106 of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joanna Prentiss; his parents, Willie H. and Mamie Prentiss Allen Sr.; and his brother, Joe Victor Allen .

Survivors include his wife, Tommie Brown Allen of Vicksburg; son, Larry Van Allen Jr. of Vicksburg; daughter, Tondra V. Allen of Houston, Texas; brother, Willie H. Allen Jr. of Seattle; sister, Carolyn Cecile Blakely of Chicago; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
