Justin henry baseball camp
The Justin Henry Baseball Camp is scheduled for Feb. 6, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park. The camp is for children in grades K-7, and will feature instruction from former college and professional baseball players including former Ole Miss and minor league baseball player Justin Henry. The cost of the camp is $50 and includes lunch and an autographed baseball. All proceeds from the camp benefit Vicksburg Family Development Service. Run Thru History
Registration is now open for the 37th annual Run Thru History, a 10K run and 5K race walk in the Vicksburg National Military Park. Vicksburg’s biggest running event will take place March 5 at 8 a.m., with a 1-mile children’s fun run following the other races. The registration fee is $25 for the run and walk. The Blue/Gray 1-Miler is free. Trophies will be presented to age group and overall winners, and the first 800 participants are guaranteed to receive a race T-shirt.

Football workout camp
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League will hold a free agent tryout camp Jan. 29 at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson. The camp is for all players who are three years removed from high school football and eligible to play professionally. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the camp at 6. There is a $100 registration fee, payable in cash. The workout will take place on a turf field and will be non-padded. No football equipment is needed, although a water bottle is recommended. VGSA registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s 2016 season will begin on Jan. 25 and continue through Feb. 22. The league is for girls ages 4 through 18, and the registration fee is $60. Team sponsorships are also available for $100 or $200.

VWAA registration
Registration is now open for the Vicksburg Warren Athletic Association’s 2016 youth baseball season, and will continue until Feb. 5. The league is open to all children ages 5-15, and the registration fee is $75. Tryouts will be Feb. 8 and 9 at Halls Ferry Park for players ages 7-15 only.

River City Showcase
Triumph Ministries will host the inaugural River City Showcase basketball tournament April 9 at Vicksburg High School. The event will feature senior players from more than 20 area high schools. For more information, visit TMIVicksburg.weebly.com.
City tennis program
The City of Vicksburg’s youth tennis program is under way at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6 p.m., and is free. For more information, call Rick Shields at 601-618-4757.
