PORT GIBSON — William “Gus” Smith died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 66.

He was a longtime resident of Claiborne County.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, George Franklin Smith; his mother, Juanita Smith; and a sister, Georgia Bryant.

Survivors include a son, William Smith of Port Gibson; two daughters, Michelle Smith and Ashley Nettles, both of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Glenwood Funeral Home on Port Gibson with Brother William May officiating.

Visitation will be Friday from noon until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ray Bryant, Kevin Bryant, Jerry Bryant, Jessie Cloy, Jr. , Eddie Nettles and Rick Arnold. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward Bryant, Dr. Johnston, 2nd Floor CVR staff of Merit Health River Region Medical Center and Amedisys Home Health.
