Robert Wayne “Bob” Bell

Robert Wayne “Bob” Bell died peacefully Jan. 29, 2016, after a lengthy struggle with illness. He was 54.

He was born in Vicksburg and returned 20 years ago to the Bell family home place on Porter’s Chapel Road.  Mr. Bell attended Presbyterian Day School, Memphis, Tenn., Columbia Academy, Columbia, and graduated from St. Aloysius High School. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

He spent the last 30 years in the insurance industry, working for Roeland T. Bell Insurance Co., an associate of the Hennessey Agency, and co-owner of Bob Bell Insurance Inc. with his wife, Michele Archie Bell.

Mr. Bell was a charter life underwriter, a certified financial planner, and a member of the National Life Underwriters Association. As an active member of First Presbyterian Church, he served as deacon and was a member of the Christ in Culture Sunday School Class.

Mr. Bell served as past president of the Kiwanis Club, was a member of the Dr. Joseph Warren Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid sports fan, hunter, fisherman and coached in the Vicksburg Little League Baseball program.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Archie Bell and son Robert Matthew Bell; his parents, Roeland T. and Carmine Banks Bell; a twin brother, William Bart Bell; sisters, Lynn Bell Breeden (Greg), Doris Tobin Bell Johnson, Salethia “Sally” Bell McLean (Clint); and aunts, uncles, and nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, William Thomas and Jessie Lynn Bell, and William W. and Jewell Chambers Banks, and Opal Young Nicholson.

Funeral services will be at First Presbyterian Church, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., and Thursday at First Presbyterian Church from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. at the Lynn Family Cemetery, Archibald, La. The Rev. Tim Brown of First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. John Albright of Union Presbyterian Church, Baskin, La., will be in charge of the services.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Devon Bell, Hunter Bell, Jacob Breeden, and Dylan Johnson; cousins, Alan Bazard, Greg Bazard and Chris Bell, and brother-in-law, Chris Brumitt.  Honorary pallbearers include Father David Luckett, Billy Banks, James Blair, Kendall Kendrick, Richard Price, John Kellum, Joe Cunningham, Mark Marble, Bobby Joe Fuller, Chris Gillis, Allen Pugh, Walden Bost, and Anthony Cripps.

Other honorary pallbearers are the Hazel “Rosebud” Erwin Family, the Kiwanis Club of Vicksburg, H. Ranch and the St. Aloysius Football and Baseball Teams of 1979-1980.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg or Jacob’s Ladder.
