James “Cuz” Jefferson Sr. died on Feb. 2, 2016, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 60.

Mr. Jefferson was born on Aug. 14, 1955 to the late James and Ikie Lee Hardy. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was employed as a truck driver for Anderson Tully for 35 years.

Besides his parents, Mr. Jefferson was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Jefferson; son, Anthony Tyrone Mitchell; grandson, Aaron Jefferson; and brother, Ulysses C. Hardy.

Survivors include his daughter, Beletra Jefferson of Vicksburg; two sons, Aaron Jefferson Sr. and James Jefferson, Jr. both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Joyce Hardy Smith, Lee Esther Hardy, Linda Faye Hardy, Debora Ann Hardy and Lisa Hardy, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Walter Hardy Sr. of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wesley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family present 6 to 7 p.m.
