Doubles dominance carries WC past Ridgeland

Warren Central’s tennis team got a strong effort from its doubles teams to beat Ridgeland 5-2 on Monday at Halls Ferry Park.

Alexa Jeffers and Olivia White won the No. 1 girls doubles point 6-0, 6-1 and Madison Kendall and Skylar Gibson won the No. 2 point 6-0, 6-0.

In boys doubles, the top team of Matthew Register and William Wooten won 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 team of Brent Styles and Greyson Parman won via disqualification.

The mixed doubles team of Amanda Boleware and George Wilkerson also won 6-0, 6-0 to complete the Vikings; win.

In boys singles, defending Class 5A champion Darius Kent beat WC’s Joseph Jabour in three sets 7-6, 3-6, 10-5.

With the victory, Warren Central improved to 3-0 on the season. It’ll go on the road to play Greenville on Tuesday.
