Henry George Wilson Jr. died April 1, 2016. He was 67.
Mr. Wilson was born in Vicksburg Aug. 1, 1948, to the late Henry and Estella Green Wilson.
He was a 1967 graduate of from Rosa A. Temple High School, where he was a member of the school’s state championship football and track teams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a firefighter for the city of Vicksburg. He later worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Matt Sinking Unit.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Talisa Wilson Phillips.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Wilson of Vicksburg; daughter, Andrea Wilson-Brown of Chicago; two sons, Henry Wilson, III of Fresco, Texas, and Nikki Hunter of Vicksburg; three sisters, Dorothy Henyard of Los Angeles, and Lillian Lampkin and Marvis Wilson-Bryant, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, MC Wilson of Columbia, S.C., Willie Frank Short of Vicksburg and Curtis Wilson of Port Gibson; three brothers-in-law; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church with the Rev. Dr. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul James Gordon, Lamar Anthony III, James Betts Jr., Arthur Elmore III Shawn Hubbard Jr., Darren Ray Wilson, James Mosely Jr. and Jeremy Loving. Honorary pallbearers will be Quinton Loving, James Betts Sr., Anthony Palmer, Willie Frank Short, Curtis Wilson, Jolly Loving, Herbert Loving and Lamar Anthony Jr.
