PORT GIBSON — John L. Walker Jr. died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his home in Baton Rouge, La. He was 69.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Ruby Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Aneatra Paulette Walker of Baton Rouge; a son, John L. Burrell of Fayette; three daughters, Wendy Parker of Port Gibson, Sharon McDaniel of Vicksburg and Tiara Walker of Baton Rouge; five brothers, Anthony Walker and Julius E. Truitt, both of Port Gibson, Randy Truitt of Jackson and Shelby Truitt and Michael Truitt, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nine sisters, Pearlie Walker, Ruby Thompson, Esselean Gordon, Linda Burks, Lorine Derby, Doreen Truitt, Jackie Washington and Sheeka Truitt, all of Port Gibson, and Carrie Burks of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016, at New Christian Fellowship in Port Gibson with pastor Randal Burge officiating. Burial will be at Carbondale Cemetery in the Westside Community under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5:30 at the funeral home, and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
