Ruby Delores Foster Jackson died Friday April 22, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Pocahontas August 13, 1931, to the late James and Pearline Foster. She was a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church.
She attended Cherry Street Elementary School and Bowman High School, where she graduated in 1949. She attended Kuhn Memorial Nursing School and graduated to become a licensed practical nurse. She also studied at Alcorn State University.
She worked at Mercy Hospital as a LPN and Medgar Evers Clinic in Port Gibson, and was a member of the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club since 1985 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 since 2001.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Hayes.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert Jackson; son, Herbert Foster of Wake Forest, N.C.; two daughters, Rhonda Miller of Dallas, Texas, and Gail Jones of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at New Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael R. Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
