Mayor George Flaggs Jr., Warren County port director Wayne Mansfield, State Sen. Briggs Hopson, R-Vicksburg, and U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center director Dr. Jeffery P. Holland will join a delegation of other Mississippi officials traveling to Dayton, Ohio to meet with economic development officials from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory.
The visit is at the invitation of the Dayton Development Coalition. Other state officials making the trip include officials with the Mississippi Development Authority and Mississippi State University, and members of U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran’s staff.
“They will meet with officials from the Dayton Development Coalition and the Air Force Research Lab,” said Chris Gallegos, a spokesman for Cochran’s office. “The visit is to find out what Dayton’s doing and to how they do it, and the folks from Mississippi will also make presentations.”
He said the group will also visit the U.S. Air Force Lab. The lab, based at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is the Air Force’s equivalent of ERDC.
The group is expected to leave Wednesday and return Friday.
