Even on an off day, the Mississippi State Bulldogs had a reason to smile.
Pitcher Dakota Hudson and freshman outfielder Jake Mangum were named All-Americans by Baseball America on Tuesday. Hudson earned second team honors, while Mangum was on the third team.
Hudson’s honor came a day after he won the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Pitcher of the Month award for May. Hudson finished the regular season with back-to-back shutouts, and is 9-4 on the year with a 2.62 ERA and 109 strikeouts.
Mangum, who was previously named the Ferriss Trophy winner as the top player in Mississippi and the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, leads the SEC with a .418 batting average.
Also Tuesday, the schedule for MSU’s super regional series with Arizona was released. The Bulldogs and Wildcats will begin their best-of-three series at Dudy Noble Field on Friday, with Game 2 on Saturday and Game 3 Sunday. All three games will start at 5 p.m.
