Pedestrian struck by car on Miss. 27

A Tallulah, La., man was seriously injured early Sunday as he attempted to cross U.S. 80 near its intersection with Mississippi 27, Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Trooper Eric Henry said.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center and later flown to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Henry said.

Monday, the man was reported in stable condition.

He was hit about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the eastbound lane by a Buick Lacrosse. The driver of the Buick, who was also not identified, will not face charges, and the case remains under investigation, he said.
