Chester Thomas Puckett

Chester Thomas Puckett was born March 7, 1941, and entered the Lord’s house Aug. 5, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Hester Puckett and William Tom Puckett.
Chester was one of four sons, William, Leo and Johnny, and four sisters, Bonnie Pare, Louise Stubbs Murray, Janice Goza, and Janie Smith.
He was a self-employed building contractor for 50 years. He built homes in Vicksburg for many years before moving to St. Joseph, La.
He continued his construction business at Lake Bruin, La.
In 2007, Chester and his wife, Jeanette, returned to Vicksburg when he retired. They enjoyed spending many days at Eagle Lake. Chester was a member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church and involved himself in the church choir. He was also involved in many church activities.
Chester had many hobbies, which included building and racing stock cars.
He enjoyed watching drag racing, fishing, cooking, and entertaining the many people he came into contact with.
Chester is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jeanette; one daughter, Dana Puckett (Keith); stepsons, Kendall Parent (Jeanie), Brian Parent (Carla) and Greg Kelley (Maria); and grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, 335 Oak Ridge Road, Vicksburg, MS 39183.
