To the editor:

On Aug. 5, local churches of the community came together to serve dinner to Vicksburg and Warren County’s emergency response teams. Dinner was provided to the Vicksburg Police Department, Vicksburg Fire Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Department. An invitation was also extended to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Warren County Board of Supervisors.

I welcome this opportunity to thank all who participated in making this event a success. Special thanks go to the following churches: Bethlehem (Bovina), Christian Home No. 2, First Baptist (Lane Street), Greater Mt. Lebanon, Gospel Temple, Holly Grove, Pleasant Valley (Hwy 61N), Porters Chapel, Shiloh, St. James No. 1, St. Peter M. B. Churches and St. Mark’s Freewill Baptist Church. Also, special thanks to Mayor George Flaggs and Lady Luck Casino. This event would not have been a success without your generosity and assistance. I also thank those who helped by preparing and serving the meal.

It was good to see police officers, fire fighters, EMTs, paramedics, deputies, court clerks, administrators, judges, prosecutors, city and county officials, pastors and citizens of this community get together under one roof and fellowship with one another. Some of us just wanted to take time to show our appreciation to those who serve us 24/7 by taking a few hours to serve them. It is my sincere prayer that we continue to pray for one another and give each other the utmost respect. Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
