The following cozy mystery titles can be found in the New Large Print section of the library.
4 “Knot the Usual Suspects” is A Haunted Yarn Shop Mystery by Molly MacRae. Kath Rutledge and her knitting group TGIF (Thank Goodness It’s Fiber) are busy with plans for the annual Tennessee arts and crafts fair known as Handmade Blue Plum. They have decided to kick off the festivities with a yarn bombing. The group is shaken, however, when Hugh McPhee, who just returned after a long absence, is found dead wearing his full bagpiper’s garb. Despite their consternation, Kath and the group decide to move forward with the installation—only to be confronted with another deadly snag. Kath decides to take matters into her own hands and enlists the help of Geneva (the ghost who haunts her shop) to find a killer before someone else becomes a target.
4“The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle” is A Book Club Mystery by Laura DiSilverio. Amy-Faye Johnson and her book club, the Readaholics, are deep into Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. The surprising resolution by literary detective Hercule Poirot seems to have stirred up a heated debate. Is the solution even plausible? Is justice served in the end? It’s just fiction, isn’t it? Then, as Amy-Faye is helping to plan the grand opening of her brother Derek’s pub, his impetuous partner gets himself murdered. To make sure that Derek isn’t railroaded as a suspect, Amy-Faye and the Readaholics take their cues from Monsieur Poirot and begin their own investigation only to discover the clues lead to some unlikely places and absolutely astonishing motives.
4“If Onions Could Spring Leeks” is A Country Cooking School Mystery by Paige Shelton. Broken Rope, Missouri, is preparing for its summer tourist season and the locals have volunteered to keep the chaos to a minimum.
The Old West skits are running smoothly and the stagecoach rides seem to be more popular than ever. Then, a shadowy visitor emerges via a ghost train and Betts and Gram jump on the case. Gram soon starts having nightmares about their spectral visitor’s death. As if a ghost and a hot, humid summer weren’t enough, one of the town volunteers is found murdered. The man was notorious for having a string of ex-wives, but is that enough motive to bump him off? Betts and Gram definitely have their hands full on this case.
4“The Stitching Hour” is An Embroidery Mystery by Amanda Lee. It’s October in tiny Tallulah Falls, Oregon and Marcy Singer’s shop, the Seven-Year Stitch, is celebrating its one year anniversary. Marcy has gone all out and ordered all kinds of celebratory goodies for her gift bags, but she is worried that the new neighbors will ruin the revelry. The eccentric couple next door have opened a haunted house and Marcy is worried that all the screaming and noise will scare away her customers. And, if that weren’t enough stress, a local waitress is found dead on the sidewalk. There are mysterious marks on her neck and a Seven-Year Stitch key ring beneath her. Marcy isn’t about to let her hard won reputation be sullied; she’s going to get to the bottom of this mess if it’s the last thing she does.
4“Wound Up in Murder” is A Yarn Retreat Mystery by Betty Hechtman. Casey Feldstein is looking forward to running her third yarn retreat at Cadbury by the Sea’s Vista Del Mar hotel on the Monterey Peninsula.
It’s a perfect location even if there is another retreat taking place at the same hotel. When Casey witnesses a very public spat between that retreat’s organizer and his wife, she’s a little embarrassed, but when she finds the woman’s dead body in the bushes later that night, she’s terrified. Casey also notices the magician’s scarf next to the body looks very similar to the one her ex-boyfriend, Sammy, used during his magic act at the retreat. When Sammy is fingered as the prime suspect, Casey can’t help herself, she has to do a little digging. Will she find the real killer before he or she strikes again?
“Bushel Full of Murder” is A Farmers’ Market Mystery by Paige Shelton. Becca Robins is looking forward to selling her delicious jams and preserves at this summer’s Bailey’s Farmers’ Market, but the atmosphere of the market seems to be changing fast. A fleet of food trucks has arrived to peddle their wares—tacos, cupcakes, chicken wings, and the like—for a two week period. Becca’s cousin, Peyton, is there, too, with his gourmet hot dog truck. The arrival of the trucks creates a great deal of tension with the vendors in the farmers’ market over their required licenses. Everything comes to a head when one of the business managers for the town is found murdered. When the cops start looking at Peyton as the prime suspect, Becca takes it upon herself to clear her cousin’s name.
