Trial date set for murder of a Vicksburg man

Jury selection is expected to begin Tuesday in the murder trial of a Vicksburg man accused of killing his uncle with an ax.

Joseph Patton, 35, 209 Overlook Drive, is accused of killing his uncle, Alfred “Pete” Patton, 62, with an ax by striking him in the neck while the men were at Alfred Patton’s mobile home on Nebula Drive off Oak Ridge Road in September 2015.

Alfred Patton’s family found his body at the mobile home.

Joseph Patton was arrested by sheriff’s deputies and arraigned on the charges on Feb. 2, 2016. He has remained in the Warren County Jail without bond since his initial appearance in County Court on the charges.
