PORT GIBSON — Peggy Sue Hammett Wood of Port Gibson died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Wood was a lifelong resident of Claiborne County. She was an active member of Red Lick Baptist Church, The Louisiana Porcelain Art Guild, The Mississippi Porcelain Art Guild, The World Organization of China Painters, The Friendship Club, and The Fayette Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wood in April of 2012.
She is survived by a son Neil Wood (Carol) of Port Gibson; a grandson Matt Wood (Deanna) of Hernando; a granddaughter, Michelle Wood Vincent (Cameron) of Flowood; and great-grandchildren, twins Eva and Noah Wood of Hernando.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Graveside services will follow at 11 at Winter Green Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Gammel officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, David Doyle, Keith Partridge, Alfred Aries, Don Hynum and Stanley Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be Burnice Trevilion, Jimmy Cassell, Bill Cassell, Franklin Gunn, Scotty Barland, Leland Moses and Mac Wood.
