Mrs. Marie Slack Strange, a long-time resident of Vicksburg, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.

She was born to the late Roy and Anna Slack. She lived most of her early life in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After completing her education she worked as a title clerk and firm secretary for a property title company in Fort Smith.

Marie became a Christian while attending the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. While there on a Sunday in 1949, a dear friend introduced her to a handsome young man named John Nelson Strange, whom she knew would ask her to marry him. One year later in 1950 they became Mr. and Mrs. Strange and moved to Vicksburg.
