William “Bill” Henry Anderson

William “Bill” Henry Anderson died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Merit Health-River Region Medical Center. He was 89 years old.
Bill Anderson was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of the late Laura Flavin Anderson and William John Anderson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bobbie Barber Anderson of Vicksburg; five children, Larry Anderson (Patty) of Madison, Ala., Lynn Johnston (Paul) of Vicksburg, David Anderson (Beth) of Pontotoc, Carol Taylor (Andy) of Russellville, Ark., Nancy Tedder (Gerald) of Vicksburg, and his close friend Ben Horton of Vicksburg.
His 18 grandchildren are Lauren (Matt) Herring, of Madison, Ala.; Carey (Jonathan) Somerville, Laura (Matt) Gullett, all of Vicksburg; Joseph (Chloe) Johnston, of Nashville, Tenn.; Katie (Terry) Wong, Sara (Carl) Wilson, all of Vicksburg; Evan Anderson, Reid Anderson, Kyle Anderson, all of Pontotoc; Mandi Taylor, Jillian Taylor, Olivia Taylor, William Taylor, all of Russellville, Ark.; Leslie Tedder of Russellville, Ark.; Jesse Tedder, Sean Tedder, both of Vicksburg; Robert (Zahira) Tedder, Killeen, Texas; Ashley Tedder of Vicksburg; and nine great-grandchildren.
Bill attended Michigan State University from 1944 to 1945 and the University of Alabama from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1947 stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. He attended Street Clinic-Mercy Hospital School of X-Ray Technology from July 1955 to July 1956, and was certified by the American Registry of X-Ray Technologists. From 1956 to 1970, Bill was the Chief X-ray Technician for the Street Clinic in Vicksburg. After leaving the Street Clinic in 1970 he was employed as an x-ray technician at Hinds General Hospital in Jackson until his retirement in 1988.
Bill’s hobbies included operating ham radios as a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator, watching Alabama football with Bobbie, the love of his life, listening to jazz music, visiting the beach, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Vicksburg where he was a charter member. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father P. J. Curley, pastor, as celebrant. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Merit Health River Region, Promise Hospital second floor rehab, The Olive Branch Senior Care Center, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Gentiva Home Health and Compassus Hospice for the loving care provided during his illness. Much thanks and appreciation to Dr. Thomas Sligh and Sharon for many years of compassionate care and friendship.
