Alice Viola Copes of Vicksburg died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 82 years old.

Mrs. Copes was born in Delhi, La. She was a resident of Vicksburg since 1957. She retired from Sears as a sales associate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Copes; parents, Wayne Allison and Erie Viola Sheppard; and daughter, Wanda Joyce Copes. She is survived by a son, Terry Wayne Copes of Vicksburg; a daughter, Linda Denise Shirley (Michael) of Vicksburg; two sisters, Betty Jean Rayborn of Monroe, La., and Katherine Kappler of Vicksburg; two brothers, Thomas Allison Sheppard of Thomasville, Ala., and Ernest Wayne Sheppard of Monroe, La., and one grandchild. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home. Services are Thursday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Vicksburg with Rev. K. E. Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Bender, Dylan Jones, Dustin Jones, Darrell Jones, Randy Williams and Doyle Lee.
