Vicksburg committed seven errors and only had one hit in losing game one of Tuesday’s twinbill against Florence, 12-1. It rebounded to play better in game two, but still fell 3-2 when Abby Smith doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning.

Smith finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game for Florence (3-2). Kelsey Lockridge homered for the Missy Gators (0-6), and pitcher Abbi Hasty only allowed five hits and three walks in eight innings.

Game one didn’t go nearly as well for Vicksburg. Hasty had the team’s only hit, a weak bloop single to right field in the bottom of the fifth inning, and eight of Florence’s 12 runs were unearned.

After a scoreless first inning, Florence scored multiple runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings and won by the 10-run mercy rule.

Gabby Hoffman drove in three runs for the Lady Eagles. Jade Prince went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Amber Rutland was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

“We have young errors, and we’re just not hitting the ball. That’s what it boils down to right now,” Vicksburg coach Michelle Fisackerly said. “I think once they get comfortable, and once they get a little more belief in themselves, everything is going to fall together and they’re going to be a good little team. It’s just got to fall, and we’re not there yet. We’re getting there, though.”

PCA 18, WCCA 3

Porters Chapel Academy jumped on Wilkinson County Christian early Tuesday, scoring seven runs in the first inning and nine more in the second to earn an easy fast-pitch win.

Hannah Embry went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for PCA (8-1, 3-0 District 5-AA), and also pitched a complete game. She allowed one hit and three walks, and struck out five in the three-inning mercy-rule shortened game.

Sabrina Embry went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Porters Chapel, while Kaylee Hinson scored three runs.
