Some enterprising criminals tried unsuccessfully Monday to recreate a scene from the movie “Barbershop” by using a stolen tow truck to take the ATM machine from Guaranty Bank & Trust, 1900 Cherry St.

Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said the attempted theft occurred about 9 p.m. Monday, about an hour after police responded to a report that a tow truck was stolen from Bell’s Towing, 1900 S. Frontage Road.

“The attempted theft of the ATM was captured by surveillance cameras in the area,” she said.
