Linda Faye Thornell Carter, 69, of Vicksburg, passed away Oct. 1, 2016, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Linda was born in Vicksburg. She lived there all of her life until she met the love of her life. It was then that together they explored and traveled the world for many years. By her own admission, her children were the greatest joy and biggest accomplishments of her life and she could have not been more proud of them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Thornell; and her sisters, Brenda Kaye and Carolyn Lorraine Thornell.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie and husband Terry Phillips of Edmond, Okla.; her daughter, Gwen and husband Lee Phillips of Brandon; two brothers, Allen and Glenn Thornell; and her beautiful grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Grace Cummings and Lee Carter Pearson.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. The Rev. Roger Cresswell will officiate at the service under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) of Mississippi.
