Gerald L. Bailey

Gerald L. Bailey passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016.
He was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Clarksdale to Brady Bailey and Dorothy Collins Bailey Kiihnl, both of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his stepfather, J. W. Kiihnl; and brother, David Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bailey; one daughter, Lori Cassidy (Peter); one son, Brandon (Jessica); one granddaughter, Bellamy Bailey; two sisters, Ellen Clark and Susan Reed; and one brother, Ricky Bailey.
He attended the 61 Bypass Church of Christ. He served as past president of the Warren County Parks and Recreation Committee.
Gerald was a member of the 173rd Petroleum Unit in Greenwood, and served a year in Vietnam. He was an Army sharpshooter and received the Army Commendation Medal while in Vietnam.
He attended Delta State University. His work career included 16 years with Western Electric and 18 years with Entergy. He retired in 2003. Gerald was an avid hiker and loved hiking the Appalachian Trail. Hobbies included golfing, traveling and gardening.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Riles Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30 until the hour of service. Private interment services will be in Charleston under the direction of Newsom Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ray Sturgis, Justin Moudy, Ron Pownall, Eddie Roberson, Willie Powers, Jerry Jackson, Ronnie Kellum and Curtis Dixon.
Gerald will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
