Traffic stop nets fugitive

An early morning traffic stop Tuesday at the intersection of Halls Ferry Road and Cain Ridge Road resulted in the arrest of a Vicksburg man wanted by Dallas County, Texas, authorities for third-offense DUI, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Erick Darden. 50, was stopped by officers about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday for a traffic violation. The Texas warrant was discovered during a records check. He was being held in the Issaquena County Corrections Center waiting transfer to Texas.
In another Tuesday arrest, Robert Graves, 24, was arrested on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant after he attempted to flee officers at the intersection of Bowmar Avenue and Yerger Street. He was later caught on Oak Street.
In other arrests:
• A traffic stop for speeding on Washington Street Saturday resulted in the arrest of a Vicksburg man on charges of fourth-offense DUI, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Vernon Skinner, 36, was stopped about 8:15 a.m. in the 4100 block of Washington Street after police officers working the Over the River Run saw him speeding through though the intersection of Washington and the Interstate 20 Washington exit and gave chase.
During a records check after the stop, officers learned he was wanted by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office for felony, or third offense DUI. He was being held in the Issaquena County Correction Center awaiting transfer to Hinds County.
• Marcus Jefferson, 26, was arrested about 8:25 a.m. in the 4100 block of Washington Street on a warrant from Holmes County charging him with domestic aggravated assault.
He was being held in the Issaquena County Corrections Center awaiting transfer to Holmes County.
Tire cleaner, purse stolen from truck
A case of Tire Shine valued a $50 and a Dooney & Bourke purse valued at $150 were reported taken about 2 p.m. Monday from a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup parked in the 4100 block of Washington Street, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
In other cases, police were called to two reported weekend burglaries:
• An undetermined amount of cash was reported taken about 8 a.m. Saturday from Mission Primary Care, 1901 Mission 66. Entry was gained through a broken window.
• Nothing was taken in the burglary of 1 Main Finance, 3042 Indiana Ave. The burglary was reported about 11:45 p.m. Friday. The burglars entered the business by prying open the rear door.
County man injured in single car crash
A Warren County man was severely injured early Sunday when the car he was driving left Mount Alban Road and struck a utility pole, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He said Alex Sellers, 22, was taken by ambulance to River Region Medical Center and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Pace said Sellers was northbound on Mount Alban Road about 3:45 a.m. Sunday when his 2001 Chevrolet Camaro went off the right side of the road. He attempted to get the car back on the road, but overcorrected, crossed into the southbound lane and left the road, striking the pole.
