Junior Prep League

St. Francis 14, Redwood 6 – William Roberson scored on a 20-yard run and threw a 2-point pass to Emerson Blackburn to lead St. Francis to the victory. Sadler Lambiotte added a 60-yard TD run for St. Francis, and Ashton Wardley had a 6-yard TD run for Redwood.

Beechwood 6, Bovina 0 – Lester Martin III scored the game’s only touchdown on a 30-yard run.
Bowmar 20, Dana Road 14 – Bowmar scored a touchdown on the last play of the game to win.

Senior Prep League

Beechwood 28, Redwood 7 – Austin Brewer scored on a 52-yard interception return for Beechwood, while Blake Channell, Davian Williams and Conner Watkins each had long rushing touchdowns. Bryson Morson scored Redwood’s touchdown on a 30-yard run.

Bowmar 28, VIS 7 – Devin Thigpen scored twice, on runs of 60 and 35 yards, to lead Bowmar past Vicksburg Intermediate School. Cameraon Wallace added a 55-yard TD run for Bowmar, and Jesse Hallbery had a 50-yard TD run. Kenny Kackley scored on a 65-yard run for VIS.

Spooky Sprint registration

Vicksburg Catholic School will host the second annual Spooky Sprint 5K run and race walk, and 1-mile fun run Oct. 22, at 8 a.m. in downtown Vicksburg. The race will begin and end at South and Monroe Streets. The festivities include a carnival, and prizes in every age group. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes for the Halloween-themed event.

The registration fee is $35 per person for the 5K run and 5K race walk, and $20 for the 1-mile fun run.

Hinds golf tournament

The Warren-Claiborne Chapter of the Hinds Community College Alumni Association will host the Clyde Donnell and Othel Mendrop Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 19 at Clear Creek Golf Course.

The tournament is a four-person scramble and begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A hamburger cookout and prize ceremony will follow the round. Flight winners will receive gift certificates to the Clear Creek Pro Shop, and there will also be bonus prizes for closest to the hole and longest drive.

City tennis sessions

The City of Vicksburg’s tennis program will conduct a free youth clinic and practice sessions during the fall. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The clinic is for children ages 5 to 18, and there is no charge to participate.
