A Vicksburg man accused of fleeing police was being held without bail Monday.

Hassan Alli, 19, who gave the address of 2160 South Frontage Road Apt. 13A, was arrested Sunday night and charged with felony eluding, Sheriff Martin Pace said. Also arrested was Harley Ray Acuff, 20, who gives an address of 118 Vera Drive, he said. Acuff is charged with accessory after the fact.

At 11 p.m. Sunday, Sgt. Jeff Harrell responded to a call for shots fired at a mobile home park on the 1200 block of Mount Alban Road, Pace said. When Harrrell arrived on scene a late model Nissan sped away from the park and people on scene identified the driver as the person firing shots. Harrell then chased the driver in a pursuit west bound on Warriors Trail, but the driver would not stop.

Harrell lost the driver, but minutes later a citizens flagged Harrell down saying he saw a car speed into the backyard of a home on Massey Road. Harrell found the vehicle crashed in the backyard of a home on the 100 block of Massey Road, and the driver, Alli, was inside the home.

The incident is still under investigation, Pace said, and officers are still trying to determine if Alli shot at anyone or was discharging the weapon in the air. Additional charged could be filed. Acuff is accused of helping Alli hide after he crashed the vehicle.
