Curtis Norman Tircuit

ROLLING FORK—Services for Curtis Norman Tircuit, 89, of Rolling Fork, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Rolling Fork United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Sappington, church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.
Mr. Tircuit died Oct. 31, 2016, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital in Rolling Fork.
He was born Sept. 7, 1927, in White Castle, La. to Albert Lee and Mabel Peavy Tircuit. His early years were spent in Plaquemine, La., before his family moved to Mississippi when he was 12. He attended Rolling Fork High School.
Mr. Tircuit served on board the U.S.S. Medusa during the Asiatic Pacific Campaign before being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in July 1946. It was also in 1946 that he married Ella Jo Lovorn. The couple spent 67 years together before she preceded him in death in 2013.
He was employed by Twin County Electric Power Association for a number of years, and was the owner of Colonels Dairy Bar. He retired from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks after a 25-year career, during which he was named Southeastern Warden of the Year. After retirement, he worked for Moore Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Lynne Corban (Frank) of Rolling Fork and Jo Ann Ray of Branson, Mo.; two brothers, Jay Tircuit of Marysville, Ca. and Matt “Sonny” Tircuit of Jarreau, La.; two grandchildren, Angela Wigley Hobart of Starkville and Jennifer Norris Storey (Jon) of Omaha, Ark.; eight great-grandchildren, Savannah Hobart Eriksen (Kasper), Jace Hobart and Kaylie Beth Hobart, all of Starkville, Mark Anne Hobart of Madison, and Ethan, Jared, Eli and Jon David Storey, all of Omaha, Ark.; and nine nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service in the sanctuary of the church. Pallbearers are Jace Hobart, Kasper Eriksen, Kenny Norris, James Ross, Kevin Corban, William Moore and Alton Norris. Honorary pallbearers are Deanie Miller, Jimmy Dick Carter, Laurance Carter, Bobby Blackley, Jackie Fleeman, Ronnie Fleeman, Harvey Cockrell, Jon Storey, Jerry Braun, Doss Shropshire, Gil Corban and John Corban.
