Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday morning, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association played its annual Turkey Shoot tournament to end the 2016 season.

Linda McHann took top honors in Flight A, as well as the lowest putting award and lowest net score. Joyce Johnson won the closest-to-pin award.

Lynne Brush took first place in Flight B. Mary May won the lowest putting award and Charlotte Crist shot the lowest net score. Emily Bonelli won the closest-to-pin award. Joyce Johnson hit the most accurate drive of the entire field.

Jacob’s Ladder 5K

The Jacob’s Ladder Turkey Trot 5K and fun run is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 in downtown Vicksburg. The race will start on Mulberry Street at 8 a.m. with the 5K run and race walk, and the 1-mile fun run will follow.

The entry fee is $30 for the run and $25 for the walk. The fun run is free. Online registration is available at raceroster.com, jacobsladderlearningcntr.com, or by picking up paper forms at the Purks YMCA. Raceday registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Nov. 19 at Mutual Credit Union on Cherry Street.

VHS track tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s varsity boys and girls track and field teams will be held Nov. 9 and 10, immediately after school at Memorial Stadium. Sign up sheets will be posted in Vicksburg High School. All athletes must have proper clothing for the tryouts, tennis shoes and a current physical.

City tennis sessions

The City of Vicksburg’s tennis program will conduct a free youth clinic and practice sessions throughout the fall. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Halls Ferry Park courts.

The clinic is for children ages 5 to 18, and there is no charge to participate.

Arrowhead Golf tourney

The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour will host the AJGT Crown Buick Junior Fall Classic at Beau Chene Golf Club in Mandeville, La., Dec. 3 and 4.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.

The tournament entry fee is $185 and includes two days of green fees, carts, tee gifts, and trophies in four age divisions. The extended registration deadline is Nov. 30.
