The body found in the Mississippi River Sunday near Norco, La., has been identified as Larrielle Ross, according to information from the St. Charles Parish, La., Coroner’s Office.

Ross, 20, of Vicksburg, was reported missing Nov. 2 from the quarters barge accompanying the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ mat sinking unit. She was a temporary galley worker on the barge where mat sinking unit employees live and eat while working on the unit.

Ross was last seen Nov. 1 in the galley of the quarters barge. When she was not found on board early Nov. 2, Corps officials reported her disappearance to St. Charles Parish authorities, starting a search that included equipment and survey boats from the Corps’ Vicksburg and New Orleans districts, St. Charles sheriff’s deputies and the U.S. Coast Guard.

St. Charles Parish authorities said Ross’ body was found about 6:57 a.m. Sunday by employees of Magnolia Fleet, who were on barge, saw a body floating in the river and notified authorities.
