Hosie ‘Bowman’ Thomas

Funeral services for Hosie “Bowman” Thomas will be Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Barrett Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

There will be a visitation hour Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. 

Hosie Thomas Jr. passed away Monday, Dec. 5, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a lengthy illness.  He was 81.  He was a member of the Holy Hill M. B. Church, where he was a deacon until his health failed. He was a retired logger and mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosie and Willie Ree Thomas Sr.; his wife, Sylena Brown Thomas; his brothers, Charles Thomas, Cornelius Thomas , Leatrice Thomas and Larry Thomas.

He is survived by his son, Alfred (Carolyn) Thomas; his sisters, Catherine Brown and Joyce Spicer, both of Albion, Mich., and Helen (Samuel) Walton of Vicksburg; his three grandchildren, Michael Russell, Ashley Thomas and Annea Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews and members of the Spicer, Thomas and Walton families.
