The Flashes led 5-0 at halftime and then poured it on with eight goals in the second half.

“I couldn’t be happier. They played as a team and played simple soccer,” St. Al coach Scott Mathis said. “Our defense pressed hard and we won the 50-50 balls 90 percent of the time. They really supported each other and played some awesome soccer. I couldn’t be prouder of our entire team.”

St. Al improved its record to 4-1 overall, and is 2-0 in District 3-AAA. It will host Canton Academy Friday at 4 p.m., and Washington School on Monday at 5 p.m. in a pair of non-district games.

The game against Washington is St. Al’s last before the holiday break. Its schedule resumes Jan. 12 at Cathedral, in the first of four consecutive road games.
