Funeral services for Jim H. Thompson will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg at 1p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

He passed away at Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg Tuesday, Dec. 6. He was 87 years old.

Jim Thompson was born to Jim L. and Augusta Thompson in Shelby on Jan. 14, 1929. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Elouise Garret Thompson; three daughters, Wendy Kay Thompson of Vicksburg, Lisa Carol Jackson (Jeff) of Brandon and Joanne Thompson of Pearl; one son, Mark Love Thompson of Carroll County; one sister, Rebecka Knowles; three grandchildren, Steve Newman, Elizabeth Somerville and Heather Ward; as well as three great-grandchildren, Noah Hamby, Skyla Smith and Calem Somerville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lillian Lee; and a son, Charles William Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, with interment to follow, all under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

Dr. Matt Buckles and David Lee will be officiating.
