A Warren County man faces three counts of aggravated assault after shooting at four other people with a .22-caliber rifle during an argument at his home New Year’s Day, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Derek Eugene Johnson, 20, 120 Jeff Lane, was being held without bail in the Warren County Jail pending an initial appearance Tuesday in Justice Court.
Pace said Johnson, who shares a mobile home with three of the people he shot at, got into an argument with a guest who had stayed overnight at the home, got the rifle and shot at the guest and then at the other three people in the structure. No one was wounded.
He said sheriff’s deputies responding to a call about a disturbance in which shots were fired took Johnson into custody and recovered a .22-caliber rifle.
In another case, a Warren County man was being held in the Madison Parish, La., jail on a Warren County Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him with aggravated domestic violence.
James Brian Pierce, 51, No. 44 Pettway Drive, is accused of using his Dodge Ram pickup to ram a Nissan Altima driven by a woman during a domestic argument and fleeing before deputies arrived.
He was arrested after deputy Sgt. Jeff Harrell received a tip Pierce was staying at a home in Delta, La. Harrell called Madison Parish authorities and Madison Parish deputies and Delta police arrested Pierce. Pace said county authorities are waiting to see if Pierce will try to oppose returning to Warren County.
