JV basketball report

(B) Trinity 58, Porters Chapel 33 — Austin Rudd scored 10 points, but Porters Chapel Academy’s junior high team fell behind by 13 points at the end of the first quarter and lost to Trinity on Tuesday. Trey White led Trinity with 18 points.

Registration for the Kings Empowerment Center’s 5-on-5 basketball league is now open and will continue through Jan. 27. There are three age divisions for the male basketball league — grades 6-7, grades 8-9 and grades 10-12.

The registration fee is $150 per team. The season begins Feb. 4 and continues through April 1, with a league tournament on April 8. Games are played on Saturdays. Registration forms can be picked up at the Kings Center, Monday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. For more information call 601-634-4788.

VSO registration open

Registration is open for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s spring season and will continue until Jan. 15. The registration fees are $60 for U4-U6, $80 for U8, $85 for U10 and $90 for U12 and above. To register online, visit vsosoccer.org, or email info@vsosoccer.org

WC track tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s varsity boys and girls, and ninth-grade boys and girls’ track teams will be held Jan. 11 and 12 at Viking Stadium, at 4 p.m. each day. Athletes must have proper workout gear and a current physical.

Hinds baseball showcase

Hinds Community College will host its Winter Baseball Showcase on Jan. 21 at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond. The camp is for players in grades 9-12. On-site registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the showcase at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the showcase is $75 per player.

The showcase will consist of a pro-style workout and an instructional period. All players must bring cleats, turf shoes, a bat and batting gloves.

Chill in the Hills 10K

The ninth annual Chill in the Hills 10K run and 5K race walk is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 in downtown Vicksburg.

The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Guaranty Bank on the corner of Cherry and Belmont Streets. Raceday registration and packet pickup will also take place at Guaranty Bank before the race on Jan. 14 and the evening of Jan. 13.

The registration fee is $25 for the 10K or 5K, and $15 for the children’s 1-mile fun run. Registration is available at active.com, and for more information visit gracechristiancounselingcenter.com/fundraiser or call 601-636-5703.
